Delete your account
You can delete your Bowerstead account and everything in it yourself, at any time, without asking us. It takes about a minute and it is permanent.
From inside the app
This is the fastest way, and it works the same on the web, on iPhone, and on Android.
- Open Settings.
- Choose Privacy and data.
- Choose Delete my account.
- We email you a one-time code, because deleting is worth confirming twice. Enter it.
Your account and its records are gone the moment that code is accepted. There is no waiting period and no grace period, so please export first if you want a copy.
If you cannot sign in
Email contact@bowerstead.com from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm it is you, delete the account, and reply to say it is done. We aim to complete this within 30 days, and in practice it is far sooner.
What is erased
Everything you keep in Bowerstead, for every child: names, grade levels, subjects, plans, terms, exams, captures, notes, grades, attendance, and any transcripts or record bundles you generated. Every photo you uploaded is deleted from storage. Your account itself and your sign-in are removed, so the email address can no longer be used to reach anything.
This cascades through our database rather than marking rows as hidden. It cannot be undone, and we cannot recover it for you afterwards.
You are also removed from our email list at the same time, so the welcome sequence and any product email stop.
What is kept, and why
Payment records. If you ever paid us, our payment processor Stripe keeps the record of that transaction. We are required to retain proof of sales for tax and accounting purposes, so this survives deletion of your Bowerstead account. It is billing identity and amounts. It has never contained anything about your children.
Error logs. If the app hit an error while you were using it, the report may persist in our monitoring tool for up to 30 days before ageing out. Those reports identify an account only by an opaque id, and every personal field is stripped before they are sent.
Routine server logs may hold traces of requests for a short period before they rotate. Nothing there is used for anything, and it is not searchable by us.
Export first, if you want to
Settings, then Privacy and data, then Export. You get a single .zip holding all of your records as structured data plus every photo you added. Doing this before you delete is the only way to keep a copy, and it is yours to take anywhere.
