Terms of service
These are the terms you agree to when you use Bowerstead. We’ve written them the way we write everything else here: plainly, and without burying anything that matters. If a line of this doesn’t sit right with you, tell us before you sign up, not after.
Who you’re dealing with
Bowerstead is made and operated by Laantri Marketing LLC, a limited liability company registered in Wyoming, United States, at 1309 Coffeen Avenue, STE 1200, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States. When these terms say “we” or “us,” that’s who they mean. “You” is the adult who holds the account.
What Bowerstead is
Bowerstead is a tool for planning a homeschool and keeping its records: attendance, subjects and hours, grades and GPA, transcripts, record bundles, and the photos and notes you capture along the way. It helps you keep the records your state asks for. It does not tell you what those records must be, and it isn’t legal or educational advice. Requirements change, and they’re yours to verify against your own state’s current rules.
Transcripts you produce with Bowerstead are parent-issued, which is the kind colleges accept from homeschools. We’re not a school, we’re not an accreditor, and we don’t confer any accreditation on you or your children.
Who can have an account
You need to be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. Bowerstead is parent-only by design: you hold the account, and you enter information about your own children. Children don’t sign in, and we never contact them. One account is meant for one household. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
Only enter a child’s information if you’re their parent or legal guardian, or you have that person’s permission. If you’re keeping records for a co-op, that means the other families need to know and agree.
Signing in
Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a one-time code. There’s no password to leak, but it does mean your email inbox is the key to your account. Keep it secure. If you lose control of it, email us at once and we’ll help.
Your records stay yours
Everything you put into Bowerstead is yours: your plans, your notes, your photos, your grades, your children’s records. We don’t claim ownership of any of it.
We need your permission to do the obvious mechanical things: store your records, back them up, and show them back to you, including rendering them into the transcripts and bundles you ask us to make. That permission is limited to running Bowerstead for you, it isn’t exclusive, and it ends when you delete your data. We don’t sell or rent your family’s data, we don’t hand it to advertisers, and we don’t train models on it. The privacy policy is the fuller account of how we handle it.
What we ask of you
Short version: use it for your own homeschool, and don’t break it or break the law with it. Specifically, please don’t:
- Upload anything unlawful, or anyone else’s personal information you have no right to hold.
- Resell, rent out, or share your account so other households can use one subscription.
- Try to break in: probing other accounts, working around the security we’ve built, or reverse engineering the service.
- Hammer the service with automated traffic, or use it in a way that degrades it for other families.
- Use Bowerstead to build a competing product, or scrape it to that end.
Plans and payment
One plan covers the whole family, every child included. Bowerstead is $9 per month or $79 per year. Prices are in US dollars and don’t include any tax that may apply where you are.
Every account starts with a free 30 days: no card up front, nothing charged, and letting the trial lapse costs nothing. You choose a plan when you’re ready. Once you do, plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel, which takes two clicks in Settings.
We may change our prices, and we’ll tell you by email before a change affects you. Refunds and cancellation are covered on the refunds and cancellation page, which is part of these terms.
Leaving, and being asked to leave
You can cancel whenever you like, and you can delete your account whenever you like. They’re different: cancelling stops the billing, deleting removes the data. Export a full copy first, from Settings, in one archive. Deletion is permanent, it takes your children’s records and your files with it, and we can’t undo it.
We can suspend or close an account that’s breaking these terms, or being used to harm someone. Unless the law stops us or the situation is serious enough that waiting would cause harm, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right and to get your data out. If we close your account for something you didn’t do, we’ll refund the unused part of what you paid.
What we can and can’t promise
We’ll work hard to keep Bowerstead running, safe, and backed up. What we can’t promise is that it will never be down, never have a bug, or never lose anything, because nobody can honestly promise that. So the service is provided “as is,” without warranties beyond those the law gives you and won’t let us waive.
This is exactly why export exists and why we’d rather you use it: your records matter too much to live in one company’s database and nowhere else. Keep your own copy of anything you’d be upset to lose.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose. Some places don’t allow those limits, and where that’s true, they don’t apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else the law says can’t be limited.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we’ll email you before it takes effect. Carrying on using Bowerstead after that means you accept the new version. If you don’t, cancel and take your data with you.
The legal fine print
These terms, along with the privacy policy and the refunds page, are the whole agreement between us. They’re governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of Wyoming are where disputes get settled. Nothing in this paragraph takes away consumer-protection rights you have where you live, which you keep regardless. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
