- Print at 100 percent, or “actual size”. Any “fit to page” setting shrinks the border and gives the sheet a wide white edge.
- Cardstock is what makes it feel like a diploma. 65lb or heavier from any stationery aisle, and most home printers take it.
- The ring is left empty for a seal. A gold foil sticker or an embosser both sit inside it.
- Sign the rules in ink. That is the part that is not printed.

Who issues a homeschool diploma
You do. In a homeschool the parent is the school administrator, and the diploma is the school’s own record that its student completed the course of study it set. That is the same mechanism a private school uses. It is not issued by a state agency, it is not accredited by anyone, and there is no registry it gets entered into.
Requirements for finishing high school at home differ from state to state, and some states say more about it than others. This tool deliberately makes no claim about yours. Check your own state’s rules before you decide your student has graduated, and treat anything that tells you the answer without asking where you live with suspicion.
Where a homeschool diploma is accepted
It varies, and anyone who gives you a flat yes or no is guessing. Many colleges admit homeschooled applicants routinely and ask for a transcript and test scores rather than the diploma itself. Employers who ask for proof of high school completion will usually take it. Military enlistment applies its own standards, which change, and is the one case worth confirming directly with a recruiter rather than reading about.
The practical version: the diploma is the object you frame. The document people actually read is the transcript, because it says what was studied and how it went. If your student is applying anywhere, build both, and build the transcript first.
Why there is no seal on it
The sheet prints an empty ring where a seal goes, and leaves it empty. A printed seal would picture an authority that issued the diploma, and none did. An embosser or a gold foil sticker from a stationery shop sits inside that ring and is applied by the school that actually issued it, which is you. That is the honest version of the same visual, and it looks better than printed ink anyway.
What this produces
One US Letter sheet in landscape, 11 by 8.5 inches, with a double rule border, the school name across the top, the graduate’s name set large in the middle, the completion statement, the date and place, and one or two signature lines flanking the seal ring. Nothing is drawn closer than half an inch to the paper edge, because home printers cannot reach the edge and a border clipped on one side is what makes a certificate look like a misprint.
Print at 100 percent rather than “fit to page”, on the heaviest paper your printer takes. The graduate’s name steps down in size as it gets longer, so a long one stays on one line instead of wrapping.
