Free homeschool transcript generator

Fill in the courses your student has taken, the grades they earned and the credits each one carries. The GPA is calculated as you type, and the finished transcript downloads as a print-ready PDF. No spreadsheet formulas, no template to reformat, no charge.

Grades are unweighted on a 4.0 scale: A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0.

Add a student name, a homeschool name, and at least one course.

What this produces

A one page, parent-issued transcript on US Letter: your homeschool name and address at the top, courses grouped by school year with grades and credits, cumulative GPA with the scale stated plainly, and a signature line. It is the same document Bowerstead generates for families using the app, rendered by the same code, so what you download here is not a simplified sample.

How credits and GPA are worked out

A full-year course is conventionally 1 credit and a semester course 0.5. GPA is credit-weighted on an unweighted 4.0 scale: each grade becomes points, multiplied by that course’s credits, summed, then divided by total credits. If you grade by mastery rather than letters, choose that option and the transcript prints the record without a GPA. No letter grade is ever invented from a narrative assessment, because a transcript that quietly manufactures numbers is worse than one that says plainly how the student was assessed.

Is a parent-issued transcript accepted?

Yes. Colleges read parent-issued homeschool transcripts every admissions cycle, from state universities to the most selective schools. What they check is internal consistency: credits that add up, a stated GPA scale, and course titles that mean something. For the longer answer, including the two accepted layouts and what to keep on file in case a college asks, read our guide to homeschool high school transcripts.

What we do with your email

We send you the transcript and occasional record keeping advice, and you can unsubscribe from any email in one click. The student name, course names and grades you type are used to render your PDF and are not stored on our servers. See our privacy policy for the full detail.

The hard part of a transcript is not the page. It is remembering four years of coursework well enough to fill it in. Bowerstead records each child’s subjects, work and progress as the year happens, so the transcript is a button rather than an evening of reconstruction. Free for 30 days, then $9 a month or $79 a year.
